I have a strong commitment to continuously improve the education of all students and staff through their understanding, respect and care in an equitable, inclusive learning environment.
As a retired principal, teacher, mentor, supervisor and staff recruiter at the elementary and secondary levels, my 25 years of experience in urban and suburban public schools along with 7 years as an early childhood director in the private sector has provided me with the background knowledge and understanding of the educational issues that are in the forefront of the Prior Lake-Savage school district.
As a community member living in Savage for 30 years, I have stayed informed of the Prior Lake-Savage school district community and the learning that takes place in the schools. I attended the first Martin Luther King Jr., celebration at Prior Lake High School and was honored to be the first Key Note Speaker for this special event. I also stay informed about the current legislative actions for education through the Minnesota Principal’s Association. As a leader for equity in our schools, I believe that ALL students (and I do mean ALL students) are entitled to the best educational experience to be successful in the Prior Lake-Savage School District that will provide them with the academic skills and knowledge to be successful in our global world.
I have and will continue to be involved in the community and education. I currently serve as a commissioner on the City of Savage Community Equity Commission. I also serve on the Minnesota Elementary School Principals’ Association Board and the Minnesota Elementary School Principal’s Retirement Board. As an educational consultant, my small business, Systemic Changes for Equity in Education, LLC, provides support to schools and educators to evaluate our educational systems as we move forward in providing the best education for all students. I am also a member of the Rotary Club of Savage which values the truth, fairness, building goodwill and fairness to all concerned.
I have raised 3 children who are now successful adults with families of their own. I am very proud of my 7 grandchildren (ages range from 4-24) who are the light of my life. They are all involved in their education as the 4 oldest are attending colleges or looking forward to attending the schools of their choice.
